Ann Taylor Mobile App

I made a mobile app for Ann Taylor, a clothing brand targeted at career women.
The primary purpose of this app is to help customers browse styles they like and eventually purchase.
This was a passion project that took one week (Dec 2020) and was built in Figma. The main focus was the visual design. I wanted to work on an e-commerce project and noticed that Ann Taylor did not have a mobile app. I thought that it’d be nice for customers to be able to browse easily on their phone from the convenience of anywhere.

My Process
I took inspiration from existing clothing apps such as ASOS, H&M, Nordstrom, Banana Republic, and Anthropologie and sketched ideas.
I wanted the app to convey a sense of ease, simplicity, and have nice images.
The typeface I used is Proxima Nova as it closely mimics Ann Taylor’s current typeface and is easy to read on mobile. I was also influenced by Ann Taylor’s current color palette.
User Story
Zoe checks her phone throughout the day. She has some free time and opens the Ann Taylor app. She looks to see if they have any new styles she might want to buy. She browses the ‘New Arrivals’ section and looks at her saved items as well as her bag. She goes back to browsing new styles she may like.

Takeaways
Look at existing apps in the market and create familiar products for users to create trust. Take inspiration from them and put your own spin on it. There is no need to always reinvent the wheel.
Use a concept. It streamlines the direction of your project.
Work on projects that you care about or that you’re interested in.
